Wedding Planning Tips
- Keep a list of all the names and contact numbers of all those involved in the wedding i.e. caterers, mandap hire, decorators etc. Meet with them at least a week before the wedding to confirm all the details.
- Always have a programme written out for the event, so you will know what will be needed when.
- Try and arrange for the caterers and decorators to visit the venue earlier so that they know what they would be working with. Ensure everyone knows what time they're expected to start working at the venue.
- Plan out the photographers main positions and make sure there are enough power points available.
- Arrangements should be made for cars and drivers to pick up and drop people between venue and home.
- Ensure an elderly relative is put in charge of the stuff required for the wedding ceremony. Assist her/him with a list and a young cousin.
- Ask a brother to be in charge of receiving guests. Ask a cousin to keep an eye on the gifts. Ask an aunt to look after the money you receive.
- Bridal trousseau and jewellery should be kept in a single room. Number and list all the items that you're going to be taking to your new home. These items should also be kept in the single room.
- Always give a realistic estimate to the caterers so you don't run short of food or ice cream.
- A full rehearsal a couple of days before the wedding is advised if you're planning an extravagant event.
- Relatives coming from out of town for the wedding should have a place to stay, if they're not going to be staying at your house.
- Allow a couple of days before the wedding for beauty treatments. You will need at least a day to indulge yourself.
